About Mastery Martial Arts

Professor Thien’s path to founding Mastery Martial Arts began over a decade ago in the United Kingdom. Starting as a complete beginner at Gracie Barra Nottingham, he earned his blue belt within the first year while training under world champion Bruno Estima.

Seeking deeper knowledge, Professor Thien relocated to London and trained at two of Europe’s most respected gyms: Carlson Gracie London and London Shootfighters. These formative years as an active competitor taught him not just technique, but the discipline and resilience that true martial arts training demands.

After a decade of relentless training and competition, Professor Thien achieved his black belt in October 2018 under the legendary Professor Pedro Sauer — a lineage he represents with honor and continues to develop throughout Asia.

Today, Coach Thien leads Mastery Martial Arts with the same passion and dedication that drove him from complete beginner to black belt. He is also the Head of Grap101, the organiser of the AFG Open International — Thailand’s largest BJJ competition — and the owner of BKK Fight Gear.
